Janelle Hacault is a Filipinx/French Canadian professional contemporary dance artist, choreographer, teacher, actor and embodiment coach based in Montréal, QC. She is a graduate of the Senior Professional Program at the School of Contemporary Dancers in Winnipeg, trained actor, and holds a BA Honours degree from the University of Winnipeg.
She has had the privilege of working with Nafro Dance Productions, Ming Hon, Compagnie Entitey/Jason Martin, Trip The Light Fantastic (Kyra Jean Green), Charles-Alexis Desgagnés, Morgane LeTiec, Andrea Peña, Sylvain Émard Danse, Les 7 Doigts de la Main, Wynn Holmes, Tony Award nominated Sam Pinkleton and Ani Taj.
In 2021, she participated in Révolution's 3rd season, premièred her newest creation at Festival Quartiers Danses called Ce Moment Où… that is featured on MaTV, and co-created an original musical with collaborator/musician Jeremy Walmsley entitled Ships.
In 2022, Janelle has worked with Sylvain Émard Danse (SED) and 19 other dancers on the show Rhapsodie, presented by Danse Danse, performed Les Preludes (SED) in Trois-Rivières, and toured Annie: la comédie musicale (director Serge Denoncourt and choreographer Wynn Holmes) in Montréal and Quebec City for Just for Laughs.
She was co-founder of Nova Dance Collective, .6 Ricochet, and co-creator of thedancepost.org. Her work has travelling across Canada and part of America. In addition to contemporary dance, she has also choreographed for musicals such as Chicago, Grease, and Mamma Mia. Her past contemporary choreographic works include Ce Moment Où…, Shapeshifters, Falling (with Jason Martin), Imprimatur, Lament, and Overtaken.
In addition to performing, Janelle has a coaching practice and online Embodiment Session that mixes dance and meditation to increase awareness and movement wellness for people from all walks of life.
